Krista and Al
Family is important…
One of the best phone calls or emails you can receive as a photographer is when a repeat client reaches out…
Krista and Al,
I am just going to say that they came as clients but now they are family! from their pre-wedding on Crane Resort beach to their wedding then a family session with their first child and countless family projects she referred me to and now with their second child family session. I am blessed to have this family as clients.
Bottom Bay Beach | The edge of Barbados
When Krista emailed me saying she was coming home for Christmas, I smiled because I knew I was going to get to meet the family again and this time was another addition. Somehow Krista and AL always manage to have the maternity part back home in Canada (Slight jealous note here)
Knowing that they were coming home was a sure session (whether Krista knew it or not)… We got some amazing photos on that beach.
The Forrester Family...
It has been a while!!
Where do I even start? It has been an upside-down year for sure. Honestly, it has been a rough one, I didn’t know if I was even going to be doing photography for much longer. Thanks, COVID!
Had to remind myself, keep fighting and do what you love!
It was pretty awesome meeting this family and getting to work with them. One thing I took away from meeting with this family “ Keep Fighting” they have been through a lot and yet they keep going and enjoying life!
Review from Sharon Forrester
We hired Jason’s Photography while in Barbados, and he did not disappoint. He was very professional, along with his assistant. We got our pictures back the next day. I would hire him again, without a doubt. Thank you so much, Jason! Keep up the good work.

Three Generations...
It’s been a while since I last blogged, but this one deserves a mention.
Trevor Sealy
I was asked by Mr Sealy to take some family photos, and I immediately said: “of course!” This was going to be a special photo opportunity for me to capture three generations of this family. I am close with this family and have seen its growth throughout the years, to capture it was going to be an honour for me.
Mr and Mrs Sealy were very active in the banking sector, rushing to and from work daily, all the while being the family heads for their two daughters Jeanine and Kimberley. There were always valuable lessons learned from Mr and Mrs Sealy directly or indirectly as they shared their experiences and life stories. Time ticked on and then there was the development of relationships between Jeanine and Kimberly and their now husbands, Trevor Clarke and Courtney Ramsay.

Jeanine and Trevor started the family expansion with their first son Joshua, then daughter Layla. Kimberley and Courtney kept the growth with their daughter Maegan. As this younger generation grew under the guide of their respective parents and now grandparents, Jeannine and Trevor added Amber to the growing family unit. As if to put the seal on the Sealy family tree, Kimberley and Courtney added master Luke.

It’s not easy to summarise as I have watched them grow to be the amazing family unit that they are today. Enough with the words, let us see what went down…

Wesley and Sheena,
This blog has been long overdue, like about a year!...
I first met this couple May 2016, Wesley had contacted me about doing a Family shoot / Birthday Shoot. The location was arranged, somewhere level with not too many obstacles as he was on crutches due to an accident.
Don’t think I was prepared for how serious this accident was, Wesley hopped out the car with a huge grin on his face, then I saw how bad the accident was. I was shocked, Wesley greeted me with a huge grin and a firm handshake and said: “Brother Jason, how you?” Whatever grumbles I had during the week were nothing compared to what Wesley had to endure over the past months.
I smiled and said “holding on sir!” Immediately I had a respect for him. Closely following him was his girlfriend, making sure he was ok. I was introduced to Sheena who greeted me with a twinkle in her eyes and shy grin, I also met the rest of the family “Tan Tan” and Kyla.
Just as we were about to start the shoot, mother nature had other plans and decided to introduce us to a monsoon. Not daunted Wesley suggested we could do the shoot under the covered area of Codrington College, somehow I don’t think he wanted to disappoint Sheena and the girls. We pressed on and we did pretty well. Images approved and prints made.
Last year sneak peak below:
How do you know when a client is satisfied with the level of work/service?
They come back!...
Once again I got a call from a familiar voice “Brother Jason, how you?, It’s time for another session”, I could go on and on, but I know you want to see what went down at our second session. Wesley is doing good with his recovery, Sheena is rocking some long curls and the kids are growing nicely. Oh, Wesley said we are doing this again next year life be spared and we “Gine updeting!”
Here's what went down in 2017.
Thank you Wesley and Sheena for letting me capture these moments in your lives!
Celebrating 70 Years...
Had the pleasure of capturing the celebration of "Mums" big 70th birthday celebration. I got an email from my old school mate asking about pricing for a photo-shoot for 4 persons, over the course of several emails back and fro, I got a brief of the intended session.
The location of this shoot had to have a meaning for the intended client. In talking I learnt that "Mums" grew up in St.John and raised her family there until she then moved to St.Philip. Immediately Codrington College came to mind, the beautiful grounds and tranquility of the place made for the perfect scene. Codrington College was also a place the family grew up and spent many evenings on the playing field and by the pond, apparently the pond was a lot different back then. (Now I'm curious to find out how the placed looked before).
Fast track to the day of the shoot, It was good to see my old school friend after so many years and it's only then that I remembered the other lady who was with her was her sister and also an old school friend of mine as well, the third lady was the granddaughter then the lady of the hour "Mums"... Well Ms. Alleyne , but I called her "Mums".
Mums was quiet and had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes... we became fast friends! She was a bit shy and nervous at first but then we got into the swing of things and had an awesome photo-shoot! Thank you Shawn for allowing me to capture these moments of your family and being a part of the celebrations. It was an honour capturing the four generations of Alleyne ladies.
Four Generations of beautiful ladies
Quote taken from Kathy-Ann:
"Psalms 90 v 10; 70 yrs are given to us some even live to 80 but even the best yrs are filled with pain & trouble but soon they quickly disappeared & we fly away. Mom, by God's Grace all your pain & trouble throughout the years quickly disappeared. The best mom is certainly a praying mom & we are privelege to have one. As the humble & contented woman you are, all you wanted for your b'day on January 19th was to wake up, give God thanks & to be surrounded by your 2 daughters & granddaughter, that was granted (with a few add-ons during the day) Mom, we love, adore & cherish you but most of all we thank God for you. Seventy years... perfection & completeness"
Kimberley’s Maternity Session
"No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you're the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside."
I had an amazing time with Kimberley, Courtney and their daughter Meagan for this maternity shoot, the usual nerves were there of course. I remember the phone call I got from Kimberley one morning, it was a quiet whispered call... “J… I want you to do my maternity shoot” ...well I think between a muffled squeal and a huge grin I said of course!!
Now, not to explain why the excitement for this maternity shoot would not be fitting. Kimberley is like family to me, she’s my wife’s cousin… (Cousin-in-law counts right?) From the beginning of meeting my wife it was written... if my cousin Kimberley doesn’t approve of you… No pressure right?
Fast forward to 10yrs + and many Christmas lunches, countless family gatherings. I got the chance to meet her boyfriend now husband Courtney, one of the coolest people you will ever meet. I claimed him as family too.
So honoured to be able to record this moment in their lives.
